Inspired by our next Transformations Explore workshop with Kitty Benford, we thought it’d be helpful for you to know what a Director is and does!
A director is responsible for the overall creative vision of a show and for bringing a playwright’s words to life on stage
Responsibilities include:
- overseeing live theatre productions during all phases: casting calls to rehearsals to performances
- guiding actors in a direction to create a story
- overseeing the production team & ensuring all elements – acting, design, and technical aspects work well together
- programming and budgeting
- publicising the production
- interpreting a musical score
