It was incredible to see such an amazing turn out for the finale of Sanctuary 2022 this weekend – with an estimated 10,000 local people attending the artwork’s burn at Miners’ Welfare Park in Bedworth.
Seven torchbearers, including the Dean of Coventry, artists and members of the local community, set the structure alight at sunset.
The project was conceived to mark the nation’s losses, with thousands of local people visiting the memorial and leaving messages for lost loved ones.
It was wonderful to work in association with Artichoke and to be able to support the delivery of a truly beautiful event that will last in the memory of everyone who participated in it forever. We would like to thank everyone who visited Sanctuary this week, and our volunteers, participants and crew. Sanctuary wouldn’t have happened without you.
