Transformations is a project for 18-29 year olds who are not currently in education, employment or training.
Young people work at The Daimler Powerhouse on authentic commissions and projects. They meet professional artists, engineers, sound and lighting designers and creative industry specialists. As they work, they gain insight into all aspects of the creation of outdoor and site-specific work, events and festivals and develop skills in production, performance and construction.
Many young people who have completed Transformations have gone on to gain entrance into University, further training, apprenticeships or developed the confidence to pursue other career and life goals.
In 2023, the Transformations group helped to produce the Powerhouse Youth Zone at Coventry’s Godiva Festival.
We are now recruiting for Transformations 2023-2024. Find out more about Transformations 2023-2024

Imagineer’s Godiva heads to Godiva Festival for the first time
Imagineer Productions’ Something from Nothing exhibition took place at the Daimler Powerhouse from the 16-18 September 2022.
This event was the result of a ten week long project where the young people of the Transformations group were tasked with curating an exhibition of their own work. They were encouraged to create artwork without a specific theme, giving them the freedom to create whatever they wanted – hence the title ‘Something from Nothing’.
Some of the work that was created was based on the development of existing personal passion projects that participants came to Transformations with, while participants without any prior ideas were encouraged and inspired by our team of creative staff to be able to come up with new ideas from ‘nothing’.
Work from previous projects in association with Imagineer were also on display at the event, such as the Bamboo Tipi from the Sensory Garden Exhibit known as ‘Bamboozled’ which was previously on display at the Imagine Bamboo Summit in July 2022. The exhibited work at the ‘Something from Nothing’ event ranged from paintings to photography to audio tracks and soundscapes.
It’s was also a great opportunity to visit the newly refurbished Daimler powerhouse during Heritage Open Days. Daimler has been transformed into to a creation centre for Coventry and is the home to five of Coventry’s independent arts companies – Imagineer Productions, Highly Sprung Performance Co., Talking Birds, Open Theatre Company and Media Mania.
Turning the Tide was a free family-friendly event where audiences experienced the wealth of our oceans, the major threats it faces and how we can all play a part in Ocean recovery.
The event included VR, sound, film, exhibition, performance and hands-on experiences. There was a marketplace where conversations with local, nationally and global environmental organisations took place to educate on how to get involved in ocean recovery and take action in the #30×30 campaign.
Turning the Tide was part of FLOW – Future Life of our Ocean’s Wealth – a family friendly event aimed at engaging children, communities and artists with ocean recovery.
Turning the Tide was delivered by Imagineer in partnership with Media Mania. Supported by Warwickshire Wildlife Trusts and The Canal & Rivers Trust.
FLOW is funded by Coventry City of Culture Trust, DCMS Cultural Recovery Fund, Medwell Hyde, and Coventry City Council, European Social Fund and The Canal & Rivers Trust
“I am extremely grateful to have been a part of Transformations. The experiences were incredibly valuable, learning and developing new skills in a hands-on approach. It was inspiring to work alongside and interact with industry professionals; I felt that a whole new world of different processes and techniques when working towards creative projects was opened up to me. Also, it developed my own creative confidence, being able to bring forward my own ideas towards different projects. The Transformations experience was essential to my own personal development; helping me to learn and grow, not just as a creative but as a person. Thank you for everything!”
