Where We Belong

20 Mar 2026 | Coventry Canal Basin

Join us for Where We Belong, a special public celebration bringing Coventry’s communities together through light, stories, and creativity.

Over six weeks, local makers, residents, schools, youth groups, and community organisations have been working together to create handmade lanterns that represent places of home, identity, and belonging.

These illuminated lanterns will be displayed at Coventry's Canal Basin 20th March, marking the Spring Equinox - a moment of balance between light and darkness, symbolising renewal, hope, and new beginnings.

The evening will feature a light installation on the water accompanied by an immersive soundscape of poetry and recorded voices from the community.

Together we will celebrate Coventry’s stories of home, connection, and belonging in a city known for sanctuary, reconciliation, and peacebuilding.

When: Fri 20th March | 5pm - 8pm
Where: Coventry Canal Basin

No booking is necessary. Sunset is expected between 6.20pm and 6.30pm, so if you're hoping for the best illuminated view, you may want to arrive a little later.

The darker it gets, the more the lanterns will glow and light up the landscape!
