Introduction to Self-Taping for Actors is a 2 and half hour practical session aimed at those wanting to develop and refine self-taping skills. Participants are encouraged to learn or familiarise themselves with a short scene (provided) beforehand to make the most of the session.
After a brief introduction, there will be tips on how to get set up for a self-tape, and then participants will be led through a variety of physical, vocal and mental exercises designed to release emotional energy of their script, tap into the power of the subconscious and awaken the inner life of a character.
There will then be a series of on-camera mock audition for participants to present their scenes and make adjustments to their performance after taking direction and the session will end with a Q&A to make sure attendees leave with the process completely demystified.
The workshop will be led by Helen Crevel, a stage and screen actor from the Midlands. Helen’s screen credits include: Casualty (BBC), Doctors (BBC), Pandemic (The Science Museum) and playing the lead in upcoming indie feature Anamnesis. She has also worked for some of our most prestigious theatre companies including National Theatre Studios, Headlong, Royal & Derngate and New Perspectives.
