Hugest congratulations to Richard Hayhow, Director of Open Theatre, one of our associate companies, who has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours List.

The award recognises his contribution “to young people with learning disabilities and artists in Birmingham and Coventry.”

Richard has led Open Theatre for over 35 years, developing and championing a nonverbal physical theatre practice created in collaboration with young people with learning disabilities. His work has helped shape Open Theatre into an organisation focused on creativity, inclusion and long-term support for young people as they explore their artistic potential.

We shall bow when we next see you!
